Madison
Home Care & Hospice provides home health services for Madison, Buncombe, and
Yancey county residents and hospice services for Madison county residents.
Home health and hospice services are available 24 hours a day.
Madison
Home Care & Hospice is licensed by the State of North Carolina,
Medicare/Medicaid certified, and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission
for Home Care, Inc. for its home health services.

Skilled
Nursing Services
Registered
Nurses provide the medical treatment prescribed by the physician.
The nurse also serves as a liaison, keeping the physician informed of the
patient’s condition.
Physical
Therapy Services
Licensed
physical therapists and physical therapy assistants provide therapy to help
relieve pain in or restore function to muscles and joints.
Occupational
Therapy Services
A
licensed occupational therapist can help you get back into the routine of daily
living and help you and your family live more fully with your disabilities.
Speech
Therapy Services
The
Speech/Language Pathologist provides help with speech and swallowing.
Medical
Social Work Services
Professionally
trained social workers can help you and your family sort out personal, family,
work, or other problems related to your illness or disability.
The social worker can also assist your family in reaching other needed
community resources.
Certified
Nurse Aide Services
The
CNA helps primarily with the patient’s personal care (ex. bathing), wound
care, limited household tasks, and supportive therapy services.
Registered
Dietitian / Diabetic Education Services
A
Registered Dietitian and Diabetic Health Educator are available to provide
training and consultation for patients needing special diets or diabetic
education.
Medical
Supplies and Durable Medical Equipment
Medical
supplies that are directly related to your medical problems are often covered by
Medicare/Medicaid or your private insurance while you are being seen by home
care. Your nurse can tell you which
supplies are covered and which you will need to purchase.
We do not provide durable medical equipment such as a hospital bed or
wheel chair, but will help you make arrangements with a local company if your
doctor orders such equipment.
Lifeline
Services
Lifeline
is a personal response system which connects a patient’s telephone with
Lifeline Central. Using a personal
help button, the patient can call for help even if he/she is unable to use the
telephone. At present, Lifeline is
not covered by third party insurance carriers; subscribers pay directly.
Community resources may be available to cover the cost of Lifeline.
Hospice
Services
Anyone
living in Madison County who has been told by a physician that he or she has a
limited life expectancy is eligible for the Hospice program.
Referrals to Hospice may come from many sources.
A patient may be referred by a doctor, friend, family member, pastor, or
may call our office. However, the
patient’s physician must authorize the services of Hospice.
All care is coordinated with, and progress reported to, the
physician. Through
a team approach, Hospice assists patients to live as comfortable and pain free
as possible during the course of their illness.
Eligibility
To
be eligible for home health or hospice services, the patient must be under the
care of a physician. Services
provided are in consultation with, and approved by, the physician.
Eligibility criteria for payment of services vary among programs.

& Hospice will be happy to answer them for you.
Madison Home Care & Hospice charges are available in writing upon
request. Home health and hospice
services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and many private insurances. Home health can also provide outpatient physical therapy,
occupational therapy, and speech therapy under the Medicare Part B benefit.
Office
Hours
The
Madison Home Care and Hospice office is open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through
Friday.
On-call services are
provided 24 hours a day for emergency services after office hours and on
weekends.
No
person is excluded from service because of race, national origin,
handicap,
color, religion, sex, or other artificial barrier.
